The world of Vehicle Finance can be a confusing one

CONTRACT HIRE

1) Choose Your Vehicle

2) Choose Your Length of Term

This is often calculated in months to make calculation of monthly payments easier. For example 24, 48 or 60 months.

3) Pay Initial Rental

Ordinarily 3 months worth of the monthly payments thereafter, but this can be tailored.

4) Hand back the vehicle at the end of the lease term.

  • High Mileage Users

    Contract Hire gives you, the customer, the ability to pick your own mileage allowance for the term

  • Larger companies/ franchise’s with numerous fleet vehicles

    More favourable offers are made available for larger fleet agreements

  • Servicing included

    Annual servicing and warranty can be included in the monthly price

  • Ensure mileage allowance is realistic

    Excess mileage is chargeable

  • The definition of ‘reasonable wear and tear’

    Your idea of reasonable wear and tear may be different to the Contract Hire company.

FINANCE LEASE

You ONLY pay VAT on this figure

3) Length of term and Balloon options

Balloon payments – a payment made at the end of the finance agreement to settle the remaining funds within your agreement.

4) Any vehicle equity is yours

  • Low Initial Outlay

    The initial deposit within Finance Lease is very flexible

  • No Mileage restrictions

    No extra mileage charges

  • VAT Efficient

    For VAT registered users, VAT on monthly payments and initial deposits can be claimed at the end of your VAT quarter.

    We do always advise double-checking with your own accountant for the full benefits

  • Make sure you look at more than the monthly payment figure when making a decision

    Many people are sold into a Finance Lease agreement purely on the lowest monthly payment figure.

    These mean a larger outlay at the end of the lease is payable – often leaving customers out of pocket!

HIRE PURCHASE

1) Choose Your Vehicle

2) VAT and Deposit payment

3) Pay Initial Rental

The remaining balance is then funded over the remaining loan period

4) After you’ve paid the final payment, the vehicle is yours

Only when the final payment has been paid is the vehicle owned by you

  • You own the vehicle at the end of the agreement

    Contract Hire gives you, the customer, the ability to pick your own mileage allowance for the term

  • No mileage restrictions

  • Can be used to reduce tax liability

  • It’s familiar

    For some people it’s a tried and trusted, recommended method.

  • Large initial outlay

    Typically 10% of the vehicle cost plus ALL the vat

  • Ownership or hire?

    Until the FINAL payment has been made, you DO NOT own the vehicle.

    Many people never actually own their Hire Purchase vehicle as they change it for a newer model before they’ve made the final payment!
